One of my all-time favorite looks to wear is a sharp suit. This suit is very unique because the fabric and design support the sheer summer trend. I often hear that shopping for a suit can be difficult because every suit does not fit every body type. The big question is pants or skirt? (decisions, decisions…) Here are a few things that always help me when shopping for suits.
- A lot of brands sell women’s suits in the same fabric as their men’s suits. These suits do not work for curvy women. These fabrics are too stiff and do not drape well over the bust.
- Similar to a double-breasted jacket, two or three button suit can box-out your tors. Instead, I think a single button where you are the narrowest is most flattering. For me, that is just below the bust.
- I like a jacket to stop right at my hips. This gives the illusion that I am taller. I am 5’2″, so I often have to shorten the jackets that I purchase.
- Having narrow sleeves and tight armholes creates a slim and tailored look. This makes a huge difference!
- Purchasing Pants vs a Skirt is a matter of preference. When buying pants, I always choose boot or an ankle cut. When purchasing a skirt, a knee length pencil skirt work everytime.
